Our Story

The Carolinas'
Premier Commercial GC

G.W. Liles Construction Company, Inc. was founded in 1984 by George "Jock" Liles as a residential firm. In 1987 the company incorporated and shifted focus to commercial and industrial general contracting — and has never looked back.

From the first Cannon School campus in the early 1990s to landmark adaptive reuse projects like Gibson Mill in Concord, Liles has built an unmatched reputation across education, retail, food & beverage, government, and commercial sectors throughout North and South Carolina. In 2023, Liles expanded fully into South Carolina with a second office in Spartanburg.

Many of the team members who were building houses in the 1980s are still with the company today — a testament to a culture built on quality, integrity, and long-term relationships.

Paul F. Liles — President & CEO

Leadership

President & CEO

Paul F. Liles grew up in the business — literally playing in the mud on jobsites while his dad ran meetings. Today, he leads Liles Construction as President and CEO, having driven the company's massive growth since 2014.

Paul served as Project Manager and Pre-Construction Manager on landmark projects including Bowers Fibers (named Top Adaptive-Reuse Project in Charlotte), 307 W Tremont Ave, El Thrifty, and Billy Sunday at Optimist Hall. He turned over the Noda and Industrious project on schedule and nearly $100,000 under budget.

Outside the office, Paul lives with his wife Anna and their two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers on a farm — hunting, fly fishing, and mountain biking when he's not building something.
